The Omaru river has its origins near Omaru hut on the Matemateaonga walkway and empties into the Waitotara river just below Train's hut. Many stretches of the river are very scenic if you can work out how to get there, particularly in the area round the impressive Terereoturaukawa falls. You may also see blue duck here.
